Trail Workday Schedule
For the sixth year, Prickly Pear Land Trust is coordinating trail work on the Helena Open Lands. Once again we have some great community projects lined up. Here is a glimpse of the trail projects we will be working on this summer.

High Divide Trail Work Day
Saturday, August 28th
Meeting Place: Ontario Creek Campground (Time TBD). Parking is limited at the campsite so please carpool.
Note- Please be aware that there is a 1.7 to 2.6 mile hike (depending on parking situations) in from the campsite to the worksite. Mountain bikers are encouraged to bring their bikes to make it in a bit quicker.
Directions to Ontario Creek Campground:
1. Take highway 12 to Little Blackfoot Road (just east of Elliston)
2. Follow Little Blackfoot Road @ 8 miles south to Ontario Creek Road
3.Go left onto Ontario Creek Road
4.Follow Ontario Creek Road @ 2.4 miles to campsite
5.Approximately 3/10 mile after crossing Ontario Creek (second crossing of Ontario Creek) take left on small road (young lodgepole) to campsite on Ontario Creek.
Join us for another day to install signs and to complete the 14-mile loop incorporating a newly completed section of the Continental Divide Trail.
This project is a partnership of the High Divide Trails Partnership including PPLT, Montana Wilderness Association, Great Divide Cyclery, the Continental Divide Trail Alliance and numerous equestrian, cycling clubs and outdoor groups. These events are fun for the entire family - good, hard physical labor that benefits the community. We supply tools, snacks, beverages, and expertise. You need to bring:
- wind/rain gear
- eye protection
- work gloves
- sun protection: hat, sunscreen
- sturdy shoes
- insect repellant
- good weather!
