Guided Trail Walk Schedule

Bring your camera to capture some outstanding views of the Helena Valley on this moderate, 3-mile hike. We will walk up to the top of the 2006 trail then take a new trail to the front of Mount Ascension and back to the 2006 trail and back to the start. Elevation change is moderate with a few short, steep pitches and varied rocky terrain.

Directions: Drive up Lime Kiln to its intersection with Arrowroot and turn left on Arrowroot. Lime Kiln takes a sharp right switchback at its intersection with South Hills Drive. The pavement ends after a short distance. The intersection with Arrowroot is less than a tenth of a mile past the end of the pavement. From the end of the pavement to an unnamed spur road leading to the trailhead is 1.2 miles. There will be a sign at this point. If you go by a house at the top of the grade on Arrowroot, you have gone too far. From where the sign is, the trailhead is .3 mile with a small amount of parking. It might be better to park at the intersection and walk to the trailhead.
